What We Do

Medtech Canada is the national association leading the effort to develop and advance Canada's innovative medical technology industry.
Representing approximately 120 medtech companies (ranging from Canadian-owned to multinationals), Medtech Canada works closely with the federal and provincial-territorial governments, health professionals, patients, and other stakeholders to deliver a patient-centred, safe, accessible, innovative, and sustainable universal healthcare system supported using medical technology.

ADVOCACY

Building relationships, providing a strong voice on business issues, and acting as a liaison with both federal and provincial governments, key stakeholders, industry partners and the public. Promoting the industry and bringing forward key messages through active engagement and involvement with stakeholders.

REGULATORY AFFAIRS

Industry’s liaison and advocacy group with Health Canada and other federal and provincial regulators. Addressing issues and providing advice related to Medical Device Regulations in Canada including medical device funding and reimbursement; performance of Therapeutic Products Directorate, Health Canada; health protection legislative renewal, cost recovery/user fees, quality systems (ISO 13485), device reuse, health technology assessment; environmental regulation of Medical Devices (Canadian Environment Protection Act (CEPA), Chemicals Management Plan, provincial stewardship regulations .

EDUCATION AND INFORMATION

Identifying, informing, and acting to find solutions on issues that are specific or interconnect the industry through timely information and education activities, relevant forums and shared advice, access, networking, and support.

MEDTECH CANADA COMMITTEES

Provincial, Federal, and Issues Based Committees that are member-driven and patient-focused bring our members together in a strengthened presence to address common sector issues and to develop and support relevant objectives and initiatives. Medtech Canada provides secretariat support and leads committee-based advocacy activities.
