Advancing Healthcare Through Innovative Medical Technologies

Our Strategic Framework and Policy Priorities

Medtech Canada works collaboratively with our partners in government and the healthcare system to advance our board-established policy priorities, which are:

  • To enhance the overall quality of patient care.
  • To improve patient access to effective medical technologies for the purposes of diagnosing, monitoring and treating diseases and medical conditions.
  • To support the growth of a vibrant medical technology industry and contribute to Canada’s innovation economy.
  • To support the sustainability of our publicly-funded health care system.

To achieve these policy priorities, Medtech Canada has established four strategic pillars that guide our association’s efforts. These pillars are:

PROMOTING STRATEGIC PROCUREMENT & FUNDING REFORMS
  • Demonstrate and advocate for the benefits of value-based procurement and outcomes-based models for products and services, while continuing to enable fair and balanced procurement practices.
FOSTER GROWTH & LEADERSHIP pROFILE
  • Promote and influence policies to increase innovation adoption, investment and access to medical technologies, thereby creating a more vibrant, productive medical technology eco-system (make the case for Canada as a leader).
ENGAGE CLINICIANS & PATIENTS
  • Meaningfully engage with clinicians and patients to work together towards transforming Canada’s health care system through innovation and technology.

SHAPE DATA & INFORMATICS POLICY
  • Advocate for standards and regulations that will enable the increased usage of connected and digital health technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), data and informatics to improve patient health care outcomes.
